Even the best beans can fall flat if brewed incorrectly. One common mistake is using the wrong coffee-to-water ratio — too much water weakens the flavor, while too much coffee can make it bitter. Stick to a general rule of 1:15 (1 gram of coffee per 15 grams of water) and adjust to taste from there.
Another issue is grind size. A coarse grind works for French press and cold brew, while espresso and moka pots require fine grounds. Using the wrong size can lead to under- or over-extraction. Also, never boil your water — aim for 90–96°C (194–205°F) for optimal flavor. Storing beans improperly (e.g., in sunlight or open air) can also ruin freshness quickly.
Finally, make sure you’re using the right roast for your method. Our medium-dark Mokarico Columbia blend is great for lattes and cappuccinos, while the Zicaffè Linea Espresso blend thrives in espresso machines. With just a few tweaks, you’ll unlock café-quality results at home.
